Today’s Heroes JCS Bus Drivers and Aides
There are some competing weather prediction models out there, including the European model, the American model, and the Jefferson County Schools model. On this day, I believe the Jefferson County Schools model worked to the benefit of students and families. It was a confusing weather forecast from the beginning. Yes, buses rolled on time, with the anticipation that the afternoon and not the morning was the primary concern. There was some inconvenience on the front end, but the action of Jefferson County Schools was the best outcome to ensure the safety of students and staff. The community that supported the teacher and service personnel walkout over pay and PEIA will hopefully recognize that their support was well founded. The bus drivers and aides were on the frontline again today. In some instances, they delivered the first word to parents regarding the closing of schools and ensured that students in their charge were safe. I am hopeful that the Board of Education will make time to recognize their service this day and everyday.
